These controls – made up of computer modules, sensors, actuators and software – are tasked to monitor and control vehicle operation to meet safety and emissions requirements while delivering the expected vehicle performance.Within Stellantis the SDO (Safety, Diagnosability and On-Board Diagnostics) safety designer is responsible to know the regulatory and non-regulatory requirements during normal operation that are associated with their assigned functional areas They are also responsible for identifying the potential hazards related to the controls function (Item Definition, Hazard and Risk Analysis), define the strategies to avoid them (Functional and Technical Safety Concepts, supported by the Fault Tree Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), support the software and application teams for the correct implementation of those requirements, and support the calibration and validation of those strategies.
