About the Role
The SAP MDG (Material Master Data) Consultant is responsible for designing, configuring, enhancing, and supporting SAP MDG function for all types of master data, and its integration with S/4HANA and other applications across global enterprises. The role ensures data governance, master data quality, workflow enforcement and compliance with business rules. This key role focuses on providing technology solutions for business requirements, providing global design and localization as warranted, stabilizing and enhancing the existing solutions, resolving defects, production break-fixes, as well as providing recommendation regarding optimal business processes by leveraging SAP best practices. This person will collaborate with the Product Owner, Project managers, system architects and the business partners to understand key objectives and challenges, ensure successful outcomes, and provide the right direction in the dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the subject matter expert for solution development in the SAP MDG area
* Design, configure, and implement SAP MDG solutions for domains such as Business Partner, Customer, Vendor, Material, and Finance.
* Lead end-to-end MDG implementations, including requirements gathering, blueprinting, configuration, testing, and go-live support
* Configure MDG data models, change request types, workflows, business rules, validations, and derivations
* Integrate SAP MDG with ECC, S/4HANA, and non-SAP systems
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to define data governance processes, roles, and policies
* Support data migration, data cleansing, and data quality initiatives
* Configure and support BRF+, Workflow (WS-BPEL/Flexible Workflow), DRF, and UI (Fiori/Web Dynpro)
* Perform configuration of systems and manage transport as part of ITSM, Cloud ALM, and change management across the SAP landscape
* Provide production support, issue resolution, and continuous improvement enhancements
* Create functional and technical documentation, including design specs, test scripts, and user guides
* Support user training and knowledge transfer activities to the managed service team.
* Ensure compliance with data standards, audit requirements, and best practices
* Perform Functional Unit testing, Product testing, System integration testing, cross functional testing, testing of SAP upgrades, Performance testing, etc.
* Support UAT, provide user training and support change management and business enablement.
* Manage and maintain overall solution architecture, scalability, and integrity.
* Provides hands-on support to developers (e.G., resolving technical blockers and reviewing code)
* Other job duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* 5+ years of experience in SAP Master Data Governance
Required Skills
* Strong hands-on experience with SAP MDG-BP, MDG-M, MDG-F, or MDG-S.
* Experience with SAP S/4HANA integration and other SAAS and non-SAP systems.
* Solid understanding of data governance frameworks and master data lifecycle
* Experience configuring: Data Models & Change Request Types, BRF+ Rules, Workflow, Data Replication Framework (DRF)
* Knowledge of Fiori apps and MDG UI customization
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, IT, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of MDG solutions.
* Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members and end-users on MDG best practices and solutions.
* Provide regular reports on system health and performance.
* Knowledge of agile methodologies and frameworks such as Kanban as well as use of tools like Jira and Service Now.
* Facilitate work and resource estimation, track progress, provide escalations and status updates.
