The Role
Strategic Finance & Investments – Analyst
Finance at Emergence is not "reporting after the fact."
It is how we make decisions.
The bar is high because the work gets used in real rooms with real stakes.
This is a hybrid role that sits between investing and strategic finance.
You will help build the financial engine across more than 10+ growing portfolio companies in different sectors, including Auto, Healthcare, and Infrastructure Software.
It is a great seat for someone early in their career who wants real reps, fast feedback, and a lot of ownership.
You will learn quickly because you will have to.
You will also get exposed to the CEO and CFO level across U.S. software businesses in addition to the management team at Emergence.
What You Will Spend Your Time Doing
You will do a mix of hands-on building and higher-level thinking, including:
Building and maintaining detailed operating models used to forecast performance and guide decisions (revenue, retention, pricing, hiring plans, cash, and scenarios)
Standing up "finance infrastructure" that actually works across portfolio companies, including reporting packages, KPI dashboards, budget versus actuals, and forecasting cadences
Supporting investor and capital raise work, including preparing materials, cleaning up data rooms, and tightening the metrics story so it holds up under scrutiny
Working closely with accounting leaders to improve the quality of the numbers (close hygiene, chart of accounts structure, consistency of definitions, and data integrity)
Contributing to new M&A theses and diligence, including market research, unit economics work, and translating messy diligence inputs into clear decision memos
What Makes Someone Successful Here
This is not a role where you can hide behind "good effort."
The models either tie out or they do not.
People who do well here tend to:
Take pride in accuracy and consistency, even on the unglamorous stuff
Catch issues early and fix them without needing a lot of airtime
Ask sharp questions and then go do the work to answer them
Communicate clearly in English, both in writing and live, because you will work with U.S.-based executives and investors
Stay calm when priorities shift, and still deliver something clean
Requirements
1 to 7 years of IB, PE, or VC experience (or an extremely close equivalent)
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including building models from scratch and stress-testing assumptions
Solid accounting and finance fundamentals (you do not need to be a CPA, but you do need to know what you are looking at)
Ability to overlap meaningfully with U.S. working hours
