We are seeking a remote, full-time Data Specialist with 5+ years of experience in data analysis, validation, and transformation. This role focuses on reviewing and validating data from multiple sources, ensuring accurate mapping into standardized formats, and maintaining high data quality across pipelines. The ideal candidate has experience working with raw data files, SQL-based systems, and AWS data environments.
This project has a 3-6 month duration with a possibility for long-term engagement.

Responsibilities
Data Validation & Quality Assurance
Analyze raw data from clients, devices, and external sources
Validate that data is correctly processed, transformed, and stored
Identify inconsistencies, anomalies, and data quality issues
Ensure outputs match expected results after processing
Review and validate data mappings created by engineering teams
Ensure raw data is accurately converted into standard formats
Collaborate with data engineers to refine and improve mapping logic
Take ownership of data quality across systems and workflows
Establish and enforce best practices for data validation and integrity
Act as a guide for teams to ensure reliable data processing
Work closely with data engineering, application engineering, and product teams to ensure alignment on data needs
Provide feedback on data issues and recommend improvements
Bridge the gap between raw data ingestion and business-ready datasets
Required Experience
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
5+ years of data validation experience
Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data quality and validation
Experience working with structured and semi-structured data
Ability to interpret and validate data transformations and mappings
Solid understanding of SQL and data querying
Experience working in data pipelines or data engineering environments
Hands-on experience with data formats such as CSV, JSON, XML, and flat files
Familiarity with SQL-compliant databases
Exposure to AWS-based data environments
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
Experience with Apache Iceberg and working with event-based or sensor data (e.g., fuel systems, industrial, or Io T data) is a plus.
Experience with data platforms such as Apache Iceberg (or similar)
