Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for children who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse and disabled adults who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse and exploitation. Work is performed and supervised under the Social Work Supervisor. The normal work schedule includes Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. and will serve on rotation-basis to cover After Hours duty with other social workers. Work may be required after 5:00 p.m.

Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for children who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse and disabled adults who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse and exploitation. Work is performed and supervised under the Social Work Supervisor. The normal work schedule includes Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. and will serve on rotation-basis to cover After Hours duty with other social workers. Work may be required after 5:00 p.m.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include
" Completes prompt and thorough investigation of complaints, casework or other counseling services to parents or other caretakers to help parents or other caretakers to prevent abuse and neglect.
" Conduct home visits with clients.
" Develop a plan with the parent or caretaker to deal with the behaviors considered to be abusive or neglectful that substantiated or found the family to be in need of services.
" Case management of Child Protective Services caseload.
" Receive and evaluate reports of alleged abuse, neglect and/or exploitation of disabled adults and mobilize protective services in those cases where maltreatment is confirmed.
" Reviews documentation, conferences with Department of Social Services' attorney, and testifies in court, if needed.

Education & Experience
" Bachelor's degree in Human Services field;
" Or bachelor's degree with 1 year of Human Services work experience,
" Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
" Knowledge of principles of interpersonal, family and group dynamics; human growth and development; different social group approach models including tasks centered modalities, rehabilitation, organizational, developmental, treatment, behavioral intervention; a wide range of interpersonal intervention techniques; principles or organizational structures; theories and techniques of planned change; community organization principles, techniques, and goals; social work principles, practices and techniques; a wide range of psychological, social, human growth and personality development principles and most importantly family centered practice approach when engaging and working with families.

" Frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.

" Work occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens
" Work may require wearing specialized personal protective equipment.
" Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Work Location:
This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.

This position is a part of the Cleveland County Department of Social Services which is considered a Health and Human Services Department. By General Statue 166A-19.3, Departments of Health and Human Services are agencies that are a part of the State Emergency Response Team for occurrences or imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any natural or man-made accidental, military, paramilitary, terrorism, weather-related, public health, explosion-related, riot-related cause, or technological failure or accident, including, but not limited to, a cyber incident, an explosion, a transportation accident, a radiological accident, or a chemical or other hazardous material incident. In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
