JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Teacher - Primary REPORTS TO:Principal PROFESSIONAL DUTIES OF A TEACHER TEACHERS’ (TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT) REGULATIONS (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1987 Schedule 3 Regulation 5 1) Head of Key Stage 2 Additional Duties - Head of Key Stage 2 - Provide effective leadership for Key Stage 2 staff, promoting high standards of teaching, learning and pupil behaviour. - Line manage teaching and support staff within the key stage, offering guidance, support and professional development. - Lead and contribute to Key Stage 2 staff meetings, ensuring consistency of practice and curriculum delivery. - Monitor teaching, learning and pupil progress across the key stage and support staff in improving outcomes. - Liaise with parents and carers regarding pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing, supporting class teachers where necessary. - Support assessment, moderation and tracking of pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and interventions. - Work closely with SLT, SENCo and other leaders to support inclusion, safeguarding and pastoral care. - Support transition into and out of Key Stage 2, including liaison with Key Stage 1 and post‑primary settings. - Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the Principal 2) For Lead Teacher of the Arts Additional Duties - Lead Teacher of The Arts - Lead and coordinate the delivery of The Arts (Art & Design, Music, Drama) in line with the Northern Ireland Curriculum.- Plan, coordinate and lead special assemblies, performances, school shows and arts‑based events.- Support and advise staff on planning, teaching and assessment in The Arts, modelling effective practice where appropriate. - Monitor teaching and learning within The Arts through lesson observations, work scrutiny and pupil voice. - Lead staff meetings or training related to The Arts, sharing best practice and supporting professional development. - Manage and maintain arts resources, ensuring they are accessible and used effectively. - Promote pupil participation, creativity and enjoyment through enrichment opportunities, clubs or external links. - Liaise with parents, visiting specialists and external organisations to enhance arts provision. - Contribute to school self‑evaluation and development planning in relation to The Arts. - Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the Principal 3) Exercise of general professional duties A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require: - (a) if he/she is employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal of that school; (b) if he/she is employed by a board on terms under which he is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school in which he/she may for the time being be required to work as a teacher. 4) Exercise of particular duties (a) A teacher employed as a teacher (other than a principal) in a school shall perform, in accordance with any directions which may be reasonably given to him/her by the principal from time to time, such particular duties as may reasonably be assigned to him/her.
