The Multimedia Journalist Reporter produces, reports, shoots, writes, voices, edits and feeds news production content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.
Reports news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of events
Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories
Reviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
Reviews and evaluates notes taken about event aspects to isolate pertinent facts and details
Determines a story’s emphasis, length and format, and organizes material accordingly
Researches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate information
Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
Pitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local community
Receives assignments and evaluates leads and tips to develop story ideas
Discusses issues with producers and/or news managers to establish priorities or positions
Checks reference materials such as books, news files or public records to obtain relevant facts
Revises work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirements
Shoots and edits news events and news reports
Produces and presents reports for all platforms
Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Writes stories for the web and other eMedia platforms
Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
The Production Assistant is responsible for various television production duties required to record scenes for live and recorded broadcasts.
Floor Direct the shows as assigned:
instruct the anchors/reporters where their next camera shot will be
relay all pertinent information from the Director/Producer to the Anchors & vice-versa
operate ENG camera during the AM LIVING SHOW in order to grab shots that the robotic cameras cannot get
operate ENG camera on the AM BAND set in order to grab shots that the robotics cannot get
must be able to communicate efficiently with the Production & News staff.
follow the Format as designed by the Director. Must be able to wear wireless headsets during the show while walking, talking & giving instructions to the Anchors & Guests.
must be able to stand for long periods of time.
must mic the guests on the AM shows
must demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times with guests, clients & coworkers
replace bulbs or fixtures as needed. This may require climbing tall ladders while holding a heavy lightfixture. Must be able to lift 20 – 30 lbs. and not be afraid of heights.
operate an ELEMENT lighting board. Will train, but prior knowledge is a plus!
Maintain the studio microphones:
Follow the Format and give the anchors/reporters the mics per the Director
Make sure all mics / IFBs are charged appropriately
Maintain the studio:
sweep & mop the studio
dust the set
clean & wipe down surfaces on the kitchen set including the refrigerator

Organizes and strings together raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming
Reviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessary
Trims filmed segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effect
Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete spots
Sets up and operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product
Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects.
Maintains editing equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
