Cloud Automation Engineer Role Overview
This is a remote position that requires a strong background in cloud automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation. The ideal candidate will have experience with AWS, Azure, or other public cloud services and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and deploy comprehensive cloud automation strategies to meet the cloud team's automation requirements.
* Analyze existing cloud processes and identify areas where automation can be implemented to optimize cloud operations.
* Support the adoption of automation tools and best practices across the cloud team.
* Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation in support of streamlined deployment and management of cloud infrastructure.
* Automate cloud infrastructure team reporting on service usage, cost, etc.
* Implement and follow best practices of Pull Requests reviews, PR Templates, git pre-commit hooks, and Branching strategies like Trunk-based or GitFlow.
* Have strong understanding of IaC state management, Cross-account provisioning, complex pipelines using latest CICD servers like GitLab CI.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience preferred.
* Five (5) years of experience preferred in cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or other public cloud services with an emphasis on AWS experience.
* Three (3) years of experience writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation.
* Three (3) years of experience in Python, or similar cloud scripting language, and AWS SDK (e.g. Boto3).
* Three (3) years of experience in using CICD Pipelines such as Gitlab CI preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Kubernetes certification is preferred.
* Experience analyzing existing processes then identifying opportunities for automation.
* Experience with automation reporting on cloud infrastructure services.
