Frontend Web Development - Online Instructor - BYU-Pathway Worldwide
Location: Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil (Remote)
Employment Type: Part-time, 10‑12 hours per week (may vary week-to-week)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Frontend Web Development Course Instructor to mentor students in our online courses (WDD 130, 131, 231, 330). The instructor will use their subject‑matter expertise to support students’ academic success, conduct targeted outreach, and build capable learners.
Key Responsibilities

Identify trends that impede academic success and conduct targeted outreach to address them.
Provide instruction to target groups and individuals to build capable, confident learners.
Use university and department‑level procedures and materials to mentor and teach students.
Gain and retain an in‑depth knowledge of the curriculum and week‑by‑week student assignments.
Respond promptly to student questions and concerns about course content and assignments.
Facilitate the learning process through posts, announcements, emails, one‑on‑one virtual meetings, and videos.
Communicate regularly with students regarding participation, performance, and outreach efforts.
Develop genuine and meaningful relationships with all students through consistent communication.
Use training materials, procedures, and systems to prepare and execute appropriate outreach plans based on student trends and needs.
Show consistent and timely responsiveness to students who respond to targeted outreach.
Track communication histories and meaningful interactions, and plan follow‑ups at appropriate intervals.
Participate occasionally in training exercises and meetings to receive additional guidance and feedback.
Apply feedback from training and evaluation to improve performance.

Qualifications

Deep understanding of and commitment to BYU Pathway Worldwide’s mission, characteristics, and student population.
Fluency in English and Portuguese (required).
Adaptability to new processes, procedures, and technologies.
Excellent interpersonal skills: professional, respectful, and unbiased.
Proven reliability and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, video conferencing, and discipline‑specific software.
Experience with online teaching/learning, especially with at‑risk learners (preferred).
Master’s degree in computer science or related field and two years of professional web development experience (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree and 3‑5 years of work experience (considered).
Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JSON (required).
Understanding of web design principles such as simplicity, responsiveness, usability, and visual design.
Expert proficiency with DOM manipulation, form and event handling, JavaScript objects and functions, CSS layout and presentation, and data retrieval mechanisms.
Experience with version control (GitHub), code editors (Visual Studio Code), and browser tools (Chrome Developer Tools).
Ability to communicate clearly in writing.

Required Documentation

Official transcript (histórico escolar) of a completed bachelor’s or master’s degree – must be sent directly from the awarding institution, digital or physical.
Copy of diploma (front and back) showing the date of degree completion or graduation ceremony.
(Additional academic documents must be officially recognized in Brazil and the country of origin.)

Working Hours & Schedule

10‑12 hours per week (may vary week‑to‑week).
At least 5 days worked each week.
Required attendance at periodic team meetings (as established by the department).
