Our client is a purpose-driven growth studio helping mission-minded brands scale their impact through world-class creative execution, storytelling, and technical excellence.By combining deep membership platform expertise with performance-first engineering, the client supports entrepreneurs in transforming their brand vision into sustainable growth engines.Need to have qualifications:- 5+ years of proven experience developing custom WordPress solutions (themes, plugins, REST API integrations).- 2+ years of direct, hands-on experience working with MemberPress at scale (multi-tier membership models, subscription management, Stripe integrations).- Expertise architecting backend systems, including custom post types, hooks/filters, MySQL queries, and scalable plugin development.- Familiarity with modern PHP development practices (object-oriented programming, Composer, namespacing, error handling).- Deep understanding of WordPress security, performance optimization, and SEO best practices.- Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative code review workflows.- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working directly with US-based stakeholders.- Full availability to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, fully aligned with Eastern Time Zone (ET).Nice to have:- Exposure to Webflow and/or Kajabi platforms.- Familiarity with caching layers (Redis, Varnish, WP Rocket) and CDNs like Cloudflare.- Experience with basic DevOps tools (Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines).- Prior work in membership sites, online education platforms, or subscription businesses.Other areas we’ll consider:- Ability to advise on backend architecture and propose best practices, not just execute assigned tasks.- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across WordPress core, plugin conflicts, and third-party API integrations.- Mindset for documentation-first development, creating clear technical notes for future teams.- Adaptability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, marketers, and non-technical founders.Responsibilities:- Architect, build, and optimize membership websites on WordPress using MemberPress as the core membership engine.- Design and implement custom plugins, shortcodes, API integrations, and backend features to meet client business needs.- Conduct full-stack performance audits and implement optimizations to improve Core Web Vitals and user experience.- Collaborate closely with design and marketing teams to advise on technical feasibility and suggest scalable solutions.- Own deployment workflows, version control, and environment management across staging and production instances.- Proactively identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, or security risks and recommend long-term solutions.- Write clear documentation for technical configurations, processes, and support handoffs.- Participate in code reviews, feedback cycles, and technical discussions with the broader engineering team.Role ID: 0162
