At Escola Concept, Middle and High School learners embark on a transformative journey that empowers them to pursue their interests and develop projects of impact beyond school walls. Through Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and innovative methodologies, learners are encouraged to identify authentic challenges, develop solutions, and document their learning experiences.

Our programs are designed to foster creativity, impactful critical thinking, and socio-emotional skills, preparing learners to thrive as socially responsible individuals who contribute meaningfully to society. Guided by the Brazilian National Curriculum Guidelines and supported by a team of passionate educators, Escola Concept inspires learners to take ownership of their learning and make a difference in the world.

To support this mission, we seek a Project Mentor who will work with multiple groups of learners to go through the three stages of Escola Concept's Design Journey: Understand, Explore, and Materialize. This role involves fostering autonomy, creativity, and collaboration while ensuring learners connect their projects to their passion and relevant global challenges.


Responsibilities and Assignments

As a Project Mentor, you will mentor multiple groups of learners from Middle and High School in designing and implementing innovative and impactful projects. Your role will focus on supporting learners in identifying their passions, facilitating project journeys, supporting learners in overcoming challenges, and promoting the development of key skills such as critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving. You will work collaboratively with educators, families, and division leadership to create a learning environment that empowers learners to explore their passions and make a tangible impact.

Skill Development:

* Facilitate the development of critical thinking, collaboration, and organizational skills through project-based methodologies.
* Coach learners on time management, goal setting, agile methodologies, and effective communication strategies.
* Empower learners to pitch their projects confidently to diverse audiences.

Monitoring and Reporting:

* Periodically monitor project progress and present progress reports to the Division Leadership.
* Reassess learners’ needs based on their progress, providing individualized support and adjusting plans when necessary.
* Systematically document project plans, outcomes, and learning to ensure visibility and recognition of achievements.

Collaboration and Family Engagement:

* Work in partnership with educators and specialists to integrate projects into the broader curriculum.
* Maintain open communication with families to align expectations, share progress, and foster a supportive learning network.
* Identify and connect learners to external partners, such as guest speakers and industry experts, to enrich project development.

Reflection and Pedagogical Documentation:

* Facilitate moments of metacognition and feedback, supporting learners in assessing their growth and identifying areas for improvement.
* Co-create project portfolios that showcase learners' processes, skills, and tangible outcomes.
* Ensure learning is made visible through the organization of thinking using Thinking Maps, Visible Thinking Routines, Habits of Mind, and The 8 Cultural Forces, among others.


Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

* Degree in Education, Design, Project-Based Learning, or related fields.
* Additional training in active learning methodologies, coaching, or innovation is a plus.

Language:

* English proficiency at C1 level or higher.

Skills:

* Enjoys working with children and teenagers from different backgrounds and abilities.
* Analytical and organizational skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Ability to lead successful family meetings.
* Ability to work collaboratively with learners, educators, and families is a must.
* Uses data to inform conversation and planning.
* Adaptability, creativity, and resilience in dynamic learning environments.

Knowledge:

* Experience with Project-Based Learning (PBL) and active learning methodologies.
* Familiarity with design thinking, educational technology tools, and project documentation platforms.
* Understanding of socioemotional skill development and 21st-century competencies.
* Experience working with learners to document and present their learning journeys.

Complexity:

* Dynamic Environment: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and innovative educational setting where priorities may evolve.
* Multitasking: Manage multiple projects, groups of learners, and deadlines effectively while maintaining high-quality support.
* Problem Solving: Support learners in navigating project-related challenges and finding creative solutions.

Experience:

* Relevant teaching or mentoring experience, particularly in facilitating learner-driven projects or innovation programs.
* Experience in dynamic, innovative learning environments is highly desirable.

Communication:

* Clarity and Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with learners, families, and educators to ensure project goals and progress are aligned.

Documentation: Effectively and thoroughly document project development and learning outcomes, ensuring transparency and recognition.
