Full time Contract position with competitive payAbout the RoleWe’re seeking a Data Architect to own the design and evolution of our relational data systems. You’ll define schemas, build models, and enforce standards that keep our data reliable, secure, and highly performant—both online and offline. This role is about depth over breadth : expert-level relational database design and optimization, with PostgreSQL at the core.Key ResponsibilitiesSchema Design & Modeling: Build logical and physical data models that scale with complex, multi-tenant applications.Database Optimization: Tune queries, indexes, and partitioning strategies for maximum performance and reliability.Integration & Sync: Support ETL / ELT processes and ensure robust data synchronization across distributed environments.Governance & Security: Establish standards for data quality, retention, lineage, and compliance (SOC2, GDPR, etc.).Collaboration: Partner with developers and product teams to make sure the database architecture supports real-world use cases.Documentation & Standards: Define naming conventions, coding standards, and best practices to ensure long-term maintainability.Required QualificationsDeep expertise in relational database design (PostgreSQL strongly preferred).Strong command of SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.Experience with schema normalization / denormalization and partitioning strategies.Familiarity with backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery planning.Solid understanding of security practices: encryption, access controls, and auditing.Background in designing for multi-tenant or large-scale transactional systems.Preferred QualificationsExperience with replication, logical decoding, or offline-first synchronization patterns.Knowledge of PostgreSQL internals and extension ecosystem (e.g., PostGIS, pg_partman).Comfort working in cloud-native environments with CI / CD and containerized deployments.Familiarity with data warehousing concepts for reporting / analytics.What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits.Full ownership of the database architecture in a mission-critical environment.Work with a team focused on building systems that are both rugged and future-proof.
