Genesis Consulting has an immediate opportunity for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI) Consultant to support a large-scale public sector S/4HANA transformation program for a metropolitan transit agency. The consultant will play a critical role in the implementation, configuration, and optimization of core financial processes within SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition.
The SAP S/4HANA FI Consultant will act as a functional utility player across the Finance workstream, supporting General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Funds Management, and integration with Procurement, Asset Management, and Payroll. The role requires hands-on participation across all phases of the implementation lifecycle, including design, configuration, testing, cutover, and post-go-live support.
The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure financial processes are aligned to SAP S/4HANA best practices while supporting the client’s operational and regulatory requirements. This includes supporting the transition from ECC-based processes to S/4HANA capabilities, including Fiori-enabled user experiences and embedded analytics.
The FI Consultant will also assist in identifying opportunities to streamline legacy processes, reduce customizations, and leverage standard S/4HANA functionality, while ensuring continuity of critical financial operations during the system conversion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant facilitates the implementation and support of SAP S/4HANA Finance solutions to enhance the client’s financial operations and overall system performance, while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Configure and support SAP S/4HANA Finance components including GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting
Participate in fit-to-standard workshops and support design decisions aligned to S/4HANA best practices
Act as a cross-functional contributor, supporting integration points between Finance and modules such as MM (Procurement), EAM (Asset Management), HCM/Payroll, and Project Systems
Support the migration and validation of financial data, including balances, open items, and asset data during conversion activities
Assist in identifying and supporting remediation of custom code, reports, interfaces, and enhancements impacting Finance processes
Support Fiori application enablement, including validation of finance-related apps, roles, and user experience considerations
Participate in System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and defect resolution across financial and cross-functional scenarios
Collaborate with technical and data teams to support integration, reporting, and data reconciliation activities
Support cutover planning and execution, including financial readiness activities and validation of key processes
Provide post-go-live support and stabilization assistance for financial operations
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
3-5 years of SAP experience with a strong focus on Finance (FI) in ECC and S/4HANA environments
At least two full lifecycle SAP implementations, including at least one S/4HANA conversion or implementation
Hands-on experience with core FI modules including GL, AP, AR, and Asset Accounting
Functional integration experience with SAP modules including MM, EAM, HCM/Payroll, and Project Systems
Experience supporting financial data migration, reconciliation, and validation activities
Experience with SAP Fiori applications and understanding of role-based access and user experience
Experience supporting testing cycles including SIT and UAT in integrated SAP environments
Working knowledge of custom code impacts (reports, interfaces, enhancements) and ability to support functional validation
Experience with SAP reporting and analytics, including embedded analytics or BW-based reporting
Strong understanding of financial close processes, including month-end and year-end activities
Experience working in Agile or SAP Activate-based delivery models
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred
Bachelor of Science or Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience preferred or Accounting (preferred).
Required Certifications:
Certification in S/4 HANA, and/or other SAP Solutions is a plus.
Other:
Experience working in distributed delivery environments, including coordination with offshore or nearshore teams (e.g., LATAM delivery centers)
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business stakeholders
Ability to support a hybrid delivery model with remote and on-site collaboration as required
