We’re looking for an Assistant Production Manager, reporting to the Production Manager, who will co-lead our photo editing and quality control teams, guide strategy and drive operational excellence.
About the Role
This role combines production oversight with a deep appreciation for the artistry of headshot retouching. You’ll manage the daily operations of our editing team, ensuring that each image reflects the clarity, subtlety, and professionalism our brand is known for.
We're seeking someone who brings both technical expertise and a discerning creative eye—someone who can guide a team to produce beautiful, natural edits that elevate the subject rather than over-process them.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Quality Control
* Co-develop strategic initiatives to strengthen and improve production operations
* Ensure timely reporting and clear communication across production workflows
* Oversee daily editing operations to support consistent, high-quality delivery of headshots
* Maintain quality standards across visual consistency, lighting, natural retouching, and overall image polish
* Identify recurring issues, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous improvement across the production team
* Step in as needed to assist with editing, troubleshooting, or complex production requests
Team Leadership & Coaching
* Supervise and mentor a team of photo editors
* Hire, train, and onboard new editors to uphold brand standards
* Foster a collaborative, high-accountability culture with clear communication
Workflow Management & Operational Oversight
* Monitor task queues and deadlines to ensure smooth project flow
* Optimize systems and tools to eliminate inefficiencies or bottlenecks
* Lead team meetings, track KPIs, and document standard operating procedures
Client & Project Coordination
* Collaborate across internal teams to meet client-specific requirements
* Maintain a client-centered approach while balancing quality and turnaround
* Support the development of background templates, sample images, and visual assets as needed
What You Bring
Experience & Skills
* 6+ years of photo retouching experience, especially in headshots or portraits
* 3+ years managing creative or production teams
* Experience with tools like Dropbox, Asana, and Slack
* Strong organizational and communication skills
