Tata Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced API Engineer to join their team in Sertãozinho, Brazil.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in designing APIs using OpenAPI, SwaggerHub, or similar tools, as well as experience in configuring and managing APIs using Azure API Management.
The API Engineer will be responsible for implementing API Design First principles to create scalable, secure, and consumer-centric APIs, with a focus on consumer-first design principles.
Key responsibilities include:
* Avoiding an API-Driven Approach: Leverage OpenAPI (Swagger), RAML, or AsyncAPI specifications to define APIs before implementation, ensuring clarity and alignment across stakeholders.
* Creating API specifications that adhere to Customer's API standards, covering endpoints, data structures, error handling, and response codes.
* Defining and configuring API policies (security, routing, transformation, throttling, etc.) using tools such as Azure API Management (APIM).
* Making mock APIs for early-stage validation and testing to facilitate integration and feedback before development.
* Performing unit testing of API specifications to ensure functionality, reliability, and adherence to defined standards.
In addition to technical skills, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and API key management best practices, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
