We are seeking an experienced Level III Software Engineer (contractor) to join our distributed team, contributing to complex projects with a focus on code quality, security, and collaboration.Position OverviewAs a Level III Software Engineer (contractor), you will apply your technical expertise to deliver high-quality code for moderately to highly complex projects. Working remotely with a U.S.-based team, you'll gain deep system knowledge and contribute to an Agile development workflow using Azure DevOps.You will begin with automated testing and peer reviews, expanding into broader development tasks by months 2–3. The role will continue to evolve based on your strengths and project needs, while maintaining rigorous adherence to coding and security standards.Key Responsibilities- Product Design & Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement software solutions aligned with technical and business objectives.- Code Contributions: Write, optimize, and maintain efficient code, including enhancement of existing codebases, beginning around months 3–4.- Testing & Quality: Design and implement automated end-to-end (E2E) tests (e.G., using Microsoft Playwright) to ensure feature stability—especially during the first 6–9 months.- Peer Reviews: Participate in pre-release feature reviews and early post-release bug analysis (first 90 days), transitioning to broader ownership over time.- Agile Workflow Participation: Actively contribute to sprints, pull requests, and releases within a 2-week sprint / 6-week release cycle using Azure DevOps.- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members across multiple time zones.QualificationsExperience- 5–8 years of software engineering experience with a demonstrated record of success on complex projects.Technical Skills- Proficiency in C# ASP.NET (.NET 8) for web applications and APIs.- Experience with .NET MAUI and Blazor Web Applications (.NET 8), leveraging web expertise for cross-platform or mobile development.- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Service, Azure SQL, and Azure Storage.- Strong understanding of modern development tools (e.G., Visual Studio, Git, Azure DevOps).- Knowledge of secure coding practices and general cybersecurity principles.- Experience with cloud platforms and Agile methodologies.Soft Skills- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.- Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.Preferred- Experience with regulated or data-sensitive software environments (e.G., healthcare, financial services, HIPAA, PHI).- Prior experience conducting pull-request reviews and participating in Agile sprints.What We Offer- Opportunity to work on impactful, large-scale technology projects.- Collaborative, high-performance engineering culture focused on quality and innovation.- Flexible remote work environment with a structured onboarding process for success.How We Work- Agile Workflow: Two-week sprints within a six-week release cycle, including daily stand-ups (3:00 PM CT), sprint planning, and reviews.- Code Standards: Strict adherence to best practices, peer reviews, and security testing (e.G., OWASP, Detectify).- Tool Stack: Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Datadog, Microsoft Playwright, and related technologies.- Team Culture: A focus on accountability, collaboration, and excellence in delivery.
