Overall Responsibilities: The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for supporting our e-Commerce Transportation Operation for North America. The specialist will work with carriers, customers and internal stakeholders to execute daily transportation management functions following documented SOPs and providing status updates to the hiring manager.
Core Responsibilities
1. Data Analysis & Shipment Integrity (Primary Focus)
• Proactive Monitoring: Query large datasets to identify lagging or \"at-risk\" shipments across sales, returns, and trade-in flows.
• Performance Reporting: Maintain and update centralized KPI boards and dashboards to ensure real-time visibility for internal stakeholders.
• SQL Management: Execute minor SQL queries to extract, filter, and audit transportation data from internal databases.
• Root Cause Analysis: Perform deep-dive investigations into weekly and monthly On-Time Delivery (OTD) fluctuations to identify systemic carrier or lane issues.
2. Transportation Operations Support (Secondary Focus)
• Escalation Management: Resolve complex shipment status inquiries by collaborating with carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL), 3PL partners, and Fulfillment teams.
• Master Data Maintenance: Support the Transportation Operations Manager in configuring and troubleshooting master data within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the data subject matter expert (SME) for ongoing logistics projects and process improvement initiatives.
Technical Requirements
• Data Handling: 1–3 years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a data-intensive operations role.
• SQL Proficiency: Ability to write and execute basic SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
• Advanced Tooling: Expert-level proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, complex formulas, data cleaning).
• Visualization: Experience maintaining or updating dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or Data Studio).
Operational Requirements
• Industry Knowledge: Foundational understanding of parcel transportation or warehouse operations.
• Analytical Thinking: Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, identify trends in \"noisy\" data, and propose actionable solutions.
• Communication: Strong ability to present data findings in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Outstanding follow-through, time management and planning skills to deliver results.
• Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment as the market develops in unpredictable ways, producing high quality work and projecting a positive attitude.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Experience operating within a Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Prior experience working with major parcel carriers, such as DHL Express, UPS, and FedEx.
• Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or Google Workspace), with working knowledge of SQL and Tableau.
• Prior Forecasting experience
