Overview
This position supports the Design team, responsible for concept, strategy, and visual communication at Rotary International.
You will have the opportunity to help push Rotary International’s visuals into new, engaging, exciting territory. Your contribution will serve to expand Rotary’s influence and recognition.
We’re looking for a Senior Graphic Designer who combines design craft with empathy and collaboration. You will co‑create with internal clients, guide them through the creative process, and help shape their ideas into visual stories that create impact. Work Arrangement
This position is designated as Hybrid - Fully Flexible and expected to work from our Rotary International Brazil Office once per month to several times a month. The specific days in the office are determined by managers based on business requirements. Because this position has been identified as requiring at least some time in the office, you must live within reasonable commuting distance from the Rotary International Brazil Office.
You Will Have
6+ years of professional graphic design experience
Professional proficiency in English and native fluency in Portuguese (Brazil)
Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
Experience, excitement, and passion for emerging AI tools
Portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking, visual design, and brand fluency across media
Excellent communication skills—you can clearly present and defend your design choices while remaining open to feedback and revisions
Nonprofit experience not necessary
You Are Good At
Creating thoughtful, on‑brand design solutions across print, digital, social, and environmental platforms
Collaborating closely with internal clients—sometimes co‑designing live and facilitating brainstorms
Using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop as core tools, with flexibility to design in Canva when the project calls for it
Applying generative AI tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, etc.) to support ideation, image generation, and workflow efficiency
Serving as a strategic partner to cross‑functional teams, helping them clarify their ideas and communicate visually
Upholding and evolving brand standards while embracing new platforms and mediums
Communicating with strong presentation skills and the ability to lead design discussions—verbally engage with requesters (internal clients) to discuss strategy and concepts before visual design work begins, as well as present and explain the benefits of design solutions and verbally discuss requesters’ concerns/feedback/questions
You Will Be Responsible For
Developing creative strategies that align with brand guidelines and visually communicate initiatives in ways that inspire audiences to act.
Collaborating with cross‑functional teams—including communications, marketing, web, social, photography, and magazine staff—to develop cohesive visual media for print and digital channels.
Designing print and digital deliverables such as fliers, brochures, books, catalogs, presentations, web publications, social graphics, and interactive templates.
Participating in brainstorms and workshops to help shape messaging, connecting the dots between project goals and audience needs.
Bridging communication between creative and non‑creative colleagues by translating feedback into clear, actionable, and on‑brand design solutions.
Building trusted relationships with stakeholders by understanding their communication styles, goals, and long‑term needs, positioning yourself as a creative partner.
Synthesizing diverse perspectives into unified visual concepts while balancing respect for legacy design standards with forward‑looking innovation.
Exploring and applying generative AI tools (such as Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, etc.) to spark ideas, create mood boards, and accelerate creative development.
Managing projects from concept through delivery by prototyping efficiently, selecting the right tools for the job, adhering to timelines, and ensuring quality control at every stage.
