Job Description
The Senior Engineer I should have over 10 years of experience in the naval and offshore industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and piping systems, statutory compliance, with proven expertise working under Statutory and Class Societies Requirements. This role requires technical leadership, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to deliver complex engineering projects under strict deadlines.
What You Will Do
Provides day-to-day leadership of Engineering staff assigned. Assigns projects to Engineers and monitors the progress of all assigned projects. Ensures the delivery of high-quality service and maintenance of good customer relations.
Devises new approaches to problems encountered and makes recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, or design where necessary.
Lead design, review, and approval of piping, mechanical, and firefighting systems in compliance with SOLAS, IMO MODU Code, FSS Code, FTP Code, and Class Society requirements.
Review statutory plans and manuals (EEDI, EEXI, SOPEP, IHM, STS, SEEMP, IMO DCS) ensuring compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, Flag State, and DPC Brazilian Coast Guard regulations.
Manage and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams (piping, process, safety, mechanical, firefighting).
Reviewer vessel design projects including tankers, offshore supply vessels, FPSOs, drillships, pipe-lay vessels, tugboats, barges, and major ship conversions.
Review and approve fire control plans, propulsion shaftlines, drilling systems, and process P&IDs, firefighting plants (FIFI Class I & II), oil recovery systems, and maritime equipment.
Devise new approaches to complex engineering problems and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or design.
Monitors the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity, and timeliness of action of all assigned projects.
Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of technical responsibility. Performs engineering reviews and analyses when necessary. Reviews other engineers' work and provides appropriate guidance and training when necessary.
Participates in the development and changes of Rules. Advises assigned staff in matters related to the application of Rules and Regulations.
Prepares written responses to clients in accordance with established procedures.
Maintains liaison with other engineering specialists internally and externally.
Monitors the performance, development potential, and training needs of engineers assigned. Keeps management informed of manpower needs.
Develops or assists in the development of qualification statements, proposals, bids, and other presentation materials.
What You Will Need
Education and Experience
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Naval Architecture, or related engineering discipline; M.S. preferred.
At least 10 years of related engineering experience in shipyards, design/consulting offices, shipping/oil companies, or classification societies.
Demonstrated expertise with Class Societies etc.
Strong knowledge of statutory codes and international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, IMO MODU Code, FSS Code, FTP Code).
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Strong knowledge of piping, mechanical, firefighting, and propulsion systems.
In-depth understanding of applicable Rules and Regulations and their impact on design and compliance.
Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex engineering problems.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Reporting Relationships
The incumbent generally reports to a Principal Engineer but may report to others depending on the specific assignment. This position does not have any direct reports.
