Artist Collaboration Initiative
Do you work closely with another creator or assistant in your studio?
Turing is seeking skilled artists to participate in a groundbreaking data collection project, the Common Lives Project.
Project Overview:
The goal of this initiative is to collect real-world data on creativity, hands-on collaboration, and artistic routines through GoPro recordings of daily activities.
Responsibilities:
* Wear a head-mounted GoPro camera to capture 5 consecutive days of activity within a 2-week window
* Record at least 7 hours per day, taking breaks as needed for privacy
* At the end of each day, spend approximately 2 hours uploading footage, reviewing clips, and choosing to delete, anonymize, or consent to each video segment
Requirements:
* No children under 18 present or visiting during the recording period
* All adults in the space must be fluent English speakers and provide consent to being recorded
* Must live in a private, self-contained apartment, building, or indoor workspace
* All household members must agree to appear in the footage
Participant Qualifications:
* Must work indoors in non-customer-facing roles (e.g., not retail or childcare)
* Participants who share the same workplace or household should both have a GoPro mounted during activities
* Preferably engaged in manual or creative work (e.g., chef, baker, artist, carpenter, musician, electrician, mechanic)
* Must be self-employed or have employer consent to record in the work environment
* Able to use a computer for basic tasks like reviewing and uploading video clips
Technical Requirements:
* Access to a computer and internet connection
* Comfortable using web-based tools for uploading and reviewing clips (training provided)
* GoPro camera and accessories will be provided for the duration of the project
