Description 1. Area Description Braskem is seeking a highly motivated Fermentation Scientist to join our Biotechnology team. This role will support research efforts by developing and executing strain screening and fermentation process development, ranging from microbioreactors to 20-liter bioreactors, within milestone-driven projects. The Fermentation team collaborates closely with the Strain Engineering group to screen and evaluate new strains, establish robust lab-to-bench scale fermentation processes, and serve as a key interface between the Biotechnology and Process Technology teams during scale-up transitions. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and solve problems creatively. 2. Main responsibilities Execute fermentation experiments across a range of scales, from microplates to 20-liter bioreactors. Plan, conduct, analyze, and report fermentation studies and experimental data. Apply statistical tools and data analysis methods to interpret results and guide process optimization. Deliver technical presentations to multidisciplinary teams, clearly communicating experimental outcomes and insights. Monitor key performance indicators related to fermentation processes and report findings to team members and leadership. Perform physico-chemical and microbiological analyses on bioprocess samples to assess performance and quality. Identify and evaluate analytical and microbiological methods and equipment relevant to the fermentation field, and plan, execute, analyze, and report on their development and application. Author and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and safety assessments to ensure compliance and consistency. 3.
