Job Summary
The lead turbine design engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing mechanical design projects. This includes providing technical guidance to the engineering team and other cross-functional areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Craft and coordinate hydro turbine mechanical designs for new or refurbished projects.
* Analyze technical data and identify project risks and opportunities.
* Liaise with Hydraulic design and Special Calculation teams to plan and execute the basic design phase.
* Develop and validate critical turbine component designs, collaborating with Principal/Consulting Engineers.
* Conduct and manage design reviews, ensuring timely follow-up actions.
* Provide technical support to customers in conjunction with System Integrators.
* Create technical drawings and supervise draftsman work.
* Optimize designs in partnership with Supply Chain and Site Installation to minimize equipment costs.
* Compose technical reports and engineering documents, including test procedures and operation manuals.
* Carry out site visits to assess existing turbines and participate in unit testing.
* Offer technical assistance to Supply Chain and Site Installation teams.
* Follow up on prototype performance testing at site locations.
* Develop tools and design guidelines for turbine engineering.
